The main congress took place from June 27 to 30, gathering 275 participants from 42 nations. The opening ceremony was a showcase of culture and fellowship, with participants wearing traditional costumes from their countries, parading with their flags, and enjoying a performance by the Málaga gospel choir. City authorities also participated, making the inauguration an unforgettable moment. The inaugural day concluded with a Christian flamenco cultural show, highlighting the rich Andalusian tradition.

Under the theme “Courage and Strength for Caring,” the congress focused on delving into the values that make Christian nursing a unique way to address patients’ needs in various contexts. During the event, 8 simultaneous seminars, inspiring presentations, and biblical expositions enriched the attendees’ experience.

Nurses Christian Fellowship International (NCFI) organized the World Congress of Christian Nurses and Midwives quadannual event at Casa Diocesana, Malaga, June 27-30.

300 Christian nurses and midwives from 40 countries gathered together in Spain to explore strength and caring in the face of ongoing challenges in the profession.

Nurses Christian Fellowship International (NCFI) organized the World Congress of Christian Nurses and Midwives quadrennial event at Casa Diocesana, Malaga, June 27-30.

Enfermeria Cristiana (Christian Nursing Spain) hosted the conference themed: “Strength and Courage to Care: God’s love; and resources for nurses and midwives.”

The theme reflected the “caring” heart, which is the foundation for the nursing profession and a recognition that both strength and courage are needed to nurse patients in today’s world, according to organizers.

“At the conclusion of the congress, delegates went away feeling inspired, encouraged, and challenged to provide competent, compassionate, Christ-like nursing or midwifery care,” said Anne Biro, NCFI President and International Chairperson of the World Congress, who lives in Canada.

The event involved Bible expositions, panel discussions and workshops, and plenary sessions with previews of professional development courses courtesy of the NCFI International Institute of Christian Nursing. Participants also enjoyed a Spanish cultural evening that provided an opportunity for conversations and networking.

Congress Evaluation

The Nurses Christian Fellowship International (NCFI) World Congress held in Málaga, Spain, from 27-30 June 2024, and was a remarkable global event aimed at empowering Christian nurses and midwives. With the theme Strength and Courage to Care: God’s Love and Resources for Nurses and Midwives, the Congress provided an opportunity for nurses and midwives to reflect on their calling and draw on their faith for strength and courage. The event offered both spiritual and professional nourishment. Additionally, the Congress fostered global networking, collaboration, and spiritual renewal for healthcare professionals.
An evaluation survey was sent to participants two weeks after the Congress to gather feedback on various aspects of the event, which offers valuable insights into its success. A total of 57 participants completed the evaluation survey. Of those, 88% are part of a national fellowship in their respective countries, reflecting a strong connection between the Congress attendees and national fellowships.
